A tribute to Gary Megson
Thursday December 31st, 2009
The morning after the night before…
With the celebratory hangover now slowly healing, Manny Road would like to pay this tribute to former Bolton Wanderers manager (how good does that feel?) Gary Megson…
And here’s what I told ESPN about the reasons for Gary Megson’s downfall and my hopes for the next manager (ideally either Mark Hughes or Owen Coyle). I also think that, for once, The Bolton News got it spot on with this assessment of Megson’s reign (having said that, their extensive list of articles on Megson’s dimissal reads suspiciously like the running schedule of Sky Sports News yesterday afternoon – new telly in the office for Christmas, lads?).
Feel free to leave your own tributes to Gary Megson below…

Megson failed because he was not an improvement on Big Sam, who had also sent season ticket holders like me to only watch games on TV.
We wanted something more inspirational to watch ie something akin to the team of 76-79 and of the Rioch years…… OR even better a foreign manager with a good track record in Europe (of the type Deportiva La Coruna’s former boss).
The game adn atmosphere as changed. We’ve been shunted into the role of customer rather than fan – and now for our part, at the prices now asked we want VALUE for money !!!
