8 things you (don’t) need to know about Bolton v Wigan
Sunday December 28th, 2008
Your guide to all the pointless pre-match punditry, previews and predictions
1. Wigan fans think ‘Bolton are a poor side and when they face quality teams like us they fall apart’ (the authority for labelling Wigan as a ‘quality team’ seems to come from being two points above us in the league table… so it’s a real gulf in class).
2. Gary Megson won’t be repeating the pointless exercise of dropping Kevin Davies.
3. Mind you, Megson has fair reason to feel optimistic as Bolton haven’t lost to a non-top four team in nine games.
4. Although… we have a terrible record against Wigan, with only two wins from seven.
5. However… Wigan are crap away from home.
6. Summing up points 3, 4 and 5… it would seem that Bolton might win… or Wigan might… or it could be a draw.
7. Chris Kirkland just stole 60 seconds of my life that I’ll never get back by making me (OK, he didn’t hold a gun to my head or anything) read this cliche-infested drivel that makes Alan Shearer look like Stephen Fry.
8. Connoisseurs of Middlesbrough Football Club – as fan site ComeOnBoro advertises itself – are apparently interested in a preview about Bolton and Wigan (personally I couldn’t even tell you who Middlesbrough are playing today, let alone any inane facts about who’s a doubt with a hamstring, so I’m obviously not a connoisseur).

And who said reader comments add nothing to the quality of the debate?

“(personally I couldn’t even tell you who Middlesbrough are playing today, let alone any inane facts about who’s a doubt with a hamstring, so I’m obviously not a connoisseur)”
You don’t say???? Having wasted 2 minutes of my life reading all the above tripe, it’s clear you are no connoisseur of football. More like a retard of football.
“Wigan are crap away” ?????
So 4 away league losses (including Liverpool & Arsenal which were both 1 goal losses) is crap? Ok. So what does that make Boltons away record then – 6 away losses which average 2 goal losses.
Anyway, it’s of very little suprise that your prediction didn’t quite turn out how you expected. Horwich Wanderers are in a false position in the league at the moment based on performances and will probably face a relegation battle come May. Whilst Wigan will look towards the possibilty of European qualification.
Hope Bolton do manage to avoid the drop though. Those 6 points will always come in handy for the Wiganers.

Usually when I’m bored of something I move on pretty quickly, but thanks for sticking around long enough to leave such a lengthy comment.
Incidentally, the Reebok Stadium is in Lostock, not Horwich.

No problem. Thought I ought to correct at least some of your numerous mistakes so that maybe in the future you wouldn’t just go ahead and make up insubstantial ‘facts’.
Again, hope you HORWICHERS can somehow avoid relegation this year.

Back for a second look, Horwich 0? I thought this had been a waste of 2 minutes of your life? If only all my readers were as disengaged as you.
You seem to have totally missed the point too. None of the above facts are mine, they’re summaries of what’s written in the previews linked to in each point. And the whole point is that I think these are a complete waste of time (see point 6 and the sub-heading: Your guide to all the pointless previews and predictions).
Therefore, if someone writes that Wigan are not very good away from home, as they did in the article linked to in point 5 – ‘But Bolton will be rubbing their hand with glee at the visit of Wigan as Steve Bruce’s men have won on the road just once since thrashing Hull City 5-0 back in August’ (their words not mine) – I think that’s completely irrelevant because anything can happen in a game of football, regardless of what’s happened before… as was proven by the result of the match.
Really don’t understand this whole Horwich obsession either… what’s your point exactly… is it meant to be an insult?
Of course if you answer that question I’ll know you’ve come back for a third look… at which point I’ll be putting you on my Christmas card list for next year…

Aww I think that’s cute that because you are unable to put up a cogent argument to my valid points, you are resorting to attempts of bullying me away. I shall reply to your ridiculous retorts as often as I so desire thank you very much.
I could say the same to you about the fact you keep replying to me but why would I when all I want to know is why you post such ridiculous ‘facts’ which aren’t even true.
To say that they are from other sources does not take any responsibilty away from you IMO. This is your blog and as such you ought to be responsible for researching these ‘facts’ first. Just take some responsibilty for your own ineptitude. Please.
Either that or just go ahead and slag me off for replying again. mmmm I wonder which you will opt for….

The responsibilty I take for anything I write on here is two-fold:
Firstly, anyone who reads this blog has the right to respond to anything they disagree with in the comments section, as you have done at length. If I didn’t take responsibilty then I would delete these comments and if I wanted to bully you away then I would simply block you from posting.
Secondly, anyone who thinks what I write on this blog is inept has the right to leave and never return.

‘…has the right to leave and never return.’
If only I could predict the lottery numbers as easily.
You are as big of a loser as that Horwich team you support.
