How Bolton can avoid another terrible kit

Crystal Palace show the way by asking fans to pick their next kit

I suggested last summer, shortly after this season’s home kit was released, that the club should do some nice PR (or fan liaison, as they’d probably call it) and put a series of designs to the fans to get them to vote on which one they like the best.

That way, if we did end up with a kit that’s the laughing stock of the entire English game again, at least the club could blame the fans for it (I’m sure Gary Megson wouldn’t hesitate).

I notice that Crystal Palace are already doing this, albeit with a slightly limited range (two home kits to choose from and three away). Palace fans are being asked to email in their favourites.

I don’t see how this scheme can fail to generate extra interest/sales/goodwill  in (yet another) new kit.

What do you think? Should the Wanderers let the fans decide on the design of the team’s next kit?

I think that’s a solid idea but why not take it one step further and hold a contest to design the kit. I’m sure there’s plenty of local talent amongst the Wanderers fan base. They could have a couple of season tickets or something for the winner.

I agree neon. They should defo get some local talent to design it. Can’t do any worse than the so-called professionals!

Anything to avoid the vomit coloured away kit we have this season, I liked the all white hime kit we had under Big Sam a few years back, made us look like Real Madrid…if not play like them

Wasn’t the previous badge the result of a design competition amongst supporters in the mid-70′s?

The first priority should be to ditch the current abomination which has to be the worst club crest in the entire league. It ranks alongside fat men with flags and music after goals, as the ultimate small-time statement from a marketing department that understands nothing about the history and traditions of a football club.

You can just imagine the meeting can’t you? ‘Why have the red rose of Lancashire on your kit, i mean it’s sooooo provincial isn’t it? Let’s replace it with a couple of squiggles representing the orgasm of delight i’m having at my own self-importance!’

Presumably the same clowns were also responsible for ditching the navy blue shorts in favour of an all-white Leeds United-style kit a few seasons ago.

Bring back the old badge! The campaign starts here!

Couldn’t agree more Trotter, I hate our badge. It’s totally soulless.

They had the same problem at Chelsea a few years ago when Ken Bates got rid of the lion. Eventually the had to resort back to something more traditional and less far East Asia market friendly due to fan pressure.

It’s about time Wanderers fans did the same. Happy to join your campaign…

A good point well put trotter,
I wont buy a BWFC shirt now because of that poor excuse of a badge.
I guess it was used to please Reebok or summat.
bring back the old one now, tradition is not a dirty word!!

Not sure if anyone saw the CSKA Moscow vs Aston Villa match but how are their Reebok jerseys so classy and ours so horrible? Although I didn’t mind our kit from last year.
