Hull City v Bolton Wanderers: The fans’ view
Sunday November 9th, 2008
The Bolton Wanderers match report you won’t read in the papers or see on Match of the Day…
Here’s what the various Bolton Wanderers discussion forums made of the 1-0 away win at Hull City:
- Credit where it’s due to Gary Megson and the team. We’re up to ninth in the Premier League table and it’s time we all stopped moaning. Those hoping we’d lose the next few games so Megson gets the sack will not get their wish. Megson is God!
- Jussi Jaaskelainen was absolutely outstanding and made all the fans who criticise him look like idiots. Those idiots (this commented is directed at Manny Road) who said he doesn’t deserve a testimonial have been proven wrong (more on this later in the week). Here’s one fan eating humble pie. And here’s another saying his kicking is still woeful.
- We defended well but lady luck was on our side.
- Megson seems to have found a winning formula – albeit by accident – with Ricardo Gardner on the left and Matt Taylor on the right.
- Johan Elmander was very poor and should be dropped for the next game. Ebi Smolarek should take his place. Alternatively, we need to give Elmander time, just like we did with Jay-Jay Okocha and Ivan Campo.
- We missed Kevin Nolan in midfield.
- It was embarrassing that the Wanderers disturbed the minute’s silence. Bolton fans weren’t exactly on their best behaviour after the game either.
- Great to see the Wanderers fans showing their respect to Phil Brown though. Let’s hope he gets the message and comes home. On the whole the support was fantastic and the board deserve credit once again for the free travel.
