Middlesbrough v Bolton Wanderers: The fans’ view

Sunday November 23rd, 2008

The Bolton Wanderers match report you won’t read in the papers (or see on Match of the Day)

Here’s what the various Bolton Wanderers discussion forums made of the 3-1 away win at Middlesbrough…

- This was our best all-round performance of the season. It was an excellent result and exactly the kind of games we should be winning. With this form there is no way we’ll go down.

- Perhaps Gary Megson and the club know what they’re doing after all. The line-up looked negative but to be fair they proved everyone wrong.

- Johan Elmander worked his socks off and deserved his goal… great finish. It takes players time to settle and we need to keep faith with him. He looked like an £8 million striker today. The only thing that might hold him back is the way we play which doesn’t encourage a goalscorer.

- Great header from Gretar Steinsson for the first goal. In fact all Megson’s signings did well because Matt Taylor got on the score sheet too.

- Maybe we’re better away from home because fans are too quick to jump on the players’ backs at the Reebok. The away fans were brilliant.

- Why were there three 0-0 draws ahead of us on Match of the Day? The 15 seconds discussion they had about the game was a disgrace too. How can a four-goal thriller be fifth on the bill out of six?
