Now that’s how a game should end…!

A stoppage-time Chris Eagles winner was enough for Wanderers to beat local rivals Blackburn Rovers and extend their unbeaten run to seven games.

Chris Eagles, a former Burnley player, fired in a low shot from the edge of the box with the final kick of the game to seal a hard earned Victory

Earlier, Blackburn’s Grant Hanley had hit the crossbar twice, while Rhodes was denied by excellent Andy Lonergan.

Bolton had almost nicked it when Adam Henley cleared Lee Chung-yong’s shot off the line just before Eagles’ winner.

The win keeps the Super Whites, who entered the game looking for a fourth successive league win for the first time since December 2006, well in touch with a play-off spot.

Despite carving out more chances throughout the 90 minutes, the Whites needed goalkeeper Andy Lonergan …making his first league start for the club in the absence of Adam Bogdan – to be in top form to keep out efforts from Hanley and Rhodes in the second half.

The visitors, who face Millwall in the last eight of the FA Cup on Sunday, had plenty of possession and several set-pieces in attacking areas, although Hanley’s flicked effort onto the bar from Morten Gamst Pedersen’s cross was their only attempt of note in the first period.

Scotland centre-back Hanley would hit the woodwork for a second time with a looping header shortly after the break, with the help of a slight deflection from Lonergan.

After Rhodes had been denied, Bolton came close to a winner themselves when Medo Kamara’s, (making his full debut) shot was tipped away by Kean and teenage full-back Henley kept out Lee’s follow-up with a tremendous goal-line clearance.

Just when it seemed the game was heading for a goaless draw, Substitute Eagles broke Blackburn’s hearts with a 93rd-minute winner.

Dougie Freedman said after the win…” I knew Blackburn would come here looking for a draw and make it very difficult for us. But I felt in the last 15 or 20 minutes that we were starting to come out on top.”

“Chris Eagles is a class act and is always capable of doing that”

After a somewhat turbulent season, Wanderers fans are finally beginning to believe the club can actually make the play-offs and if they can maintain the level of performances they have in recent weeks, there is no reason why that dream cannot become a reallty..
